I think the solution is to make sure when the album is first created that it is not a shared album. Make just a normal album. Check if it works, then add sharing later.

    Hello,
I’m about to give up. This whole thing doesn’t really work. My practice is as follows.
Most of my albums were still created under Picasa as public albums. These are displayed correctly. All the albums I’ve created using Google Photos are either private, so they don’t show up, or I turn on sharing, but they don’t show up in public, like the albums I’ve created with Picasa, they’re restricted. Under Google Photos there is no way to change the status to “public”. All new albums, which I create and share now, will not be released, unless I choose “visible” or “Public” in the plugin. But then all albums, including private albums, will be released. I have invested so much time in testing and I can’t come to any conclusion. I’m frustrated!

With the function “hide_albums” I can hide certain albums. Conversely, is it possible to define only certain albums, which are then displayed? So I could set in the plugin that all albums will be output, and on the album overview page I could limit the display in code to the desired ones?

It sounds like in your situation you will struggle to keep some albums Private (not visible) and create new albums that are visible.

Google really have frustrated a lot of people when the moved Picasa to Google Photos.

Unfortunately it’s not possible to request albums by name in Google Photos.
