# SOLVED: Parse Error when installing theme

 * Since someone CLOSED this thread… I can no longer post my solution there. So…
   I created a new thread with solution to this WordPress Theme “Deep Silent” problem.
   I too installed this theme and immediately got the following PHP error: “Parse
   error: syntax error, unexpected $end in <directory>\htdocs\wp-content\themes\
   deep-silent\functions.php on line 409”
 * The theme was created using PHP “Short Tags”. You just need to enable Short Tags
   on your server (or have ADMIN do it). Here is quick and simple explanation on
