# Solution for multisite? or a problem?

 * Could wp-multisite possibly be run across different databases? I mean I know
it’s possible but could it be done as to help fix some of the current multisite
   problems?
 * I’m thinking maybe it could help the cross platform issues, as well as operation?
 * I am just thinking if you could possibly run a multisite network with 1,000,000
sites, it would all be in the same database. But would that be ideal if the power
is behind that 1 database? Or is that just way over any configuration?? And so
then possibly it would need to be put into separate databases as a solution?
 * Thank you!

 * 1,000,000 sites? That’s a huge number. Well, by default, WP Multisite uses a
single database across all the sites. This usually works for everyone. If it’s
a large enterprise you’re talking about, where the databases are really huge,
then _consider_ using a DB shard.

 * Is this something I should have done at the beginning of site creations? Or if
I have 50 in a database now, can I separate those somehow?
 * Thanks again!

 * Also, does each site use all the same user specifics? Such as the profile problems
and such. I am wanting all users to be logged into all sites like normal on WP
but I am just really wanting to change the function of profiles being the same
across all sites because I am having profile and avatar problems that are not
really settled in WP multisite issues.
 * I was thinking that the multiple databases would allow for ease on the one db.
But also I am having the simple profile issues that I did not notice before,
and I am looking for a way to separate the profiles but keep the users connected
to all sites, while still keeping all the other same connected features, but
also, in case I want to add more, I would like each additional site on a new
database incase of a crash, my site/db is not affected at all.
 * Thanks again bud and happy new years!

 * We currently don’t have the expertise to answer all your questions. We’re beginners
yet. But we will try to answer all which we can.
 * > Is this something I should have done at the beginning of site creations? Or

 * You sound like you are a power user. Yes, you can separate them. The plugins
mentioned can help you with that.

 * If handling multiple databases is all you are looking for, then [this](http://blog.navayan.com/handling-multiple-databases-in-wordpress/#.VKZsRiuUfPo)
   will help.
 * **You may wait for someone else to answer the rest of your questions.**
 * Or you _may _go to [this site](http://wordpress.stackexchange.com/) as it is
mostly used by power users. And since your question is database specific you
may choose to post it at the [Database Administrators](http://dba.stackexchange.com/)
   forum.

 * I know the basics, I repair PC’s and stuff…but I don’t know any real code or
structuring so only can replace the pass/server/login info no problem, but after
   that I get confused 😛

 * I am finding I think the plugin Multi-DB is best for the functioning I want?
Anyone have thoughts on this? Thanks!!

 * I actually read these and come to the conclusion I needed Multi-DB but when I
contacted the wmpudev team they seemed more in advertising a different plugin
to me and offering me all their plugins as well….Hopefully I can get my questions
   answered though 😛

 * I just checked and I didn’t….according to them, since I only have 4 sites to
begin with, this would not work for me…even though I can create 4096 DBs altogether….
according to the links above you gave me, the one says I need this plugin, but
the developer says I don’t need it???

 * I’m pretty sure since I have 4 sites and their setup runs on a minimal of 16,
the customer service representatives don’t seem to realize I will be adding sites.
 * They didn’t even try to try, they just tried to sell me a backup program stating
that’s what I was asking for..
 * WMPUDev is obviously some gvt owned POS company. I’ve had bad customer service
before, but not the worst like this.
 * Read the article on their page stating this worked perfectly for me….customer
service reps state I’m basically stupid and that a backup program is what I’m
   asking for……..
 * WMPU-dev is probably about to fail as a company. Horrible structuring to support
   at least
