Support » Plugin: Duplicate Post » Social shares count from original post

  • Question 1)
When I duplicate a post, I noticed it also pulls over the social shares count from the original post. Is there no way to set this number back to zero for my duplicate post, since it will be a completely different post entirely?

I am using your plugin for my Book Reviews posts so that I do not have to keep starting from scratch in every review post. But each Book Review, obviously, will be its own post with its own review. So I do not want the social shares to be inaccurate for each post. Is this not the right plugin for what I am trying to do here?

    Question 2)
When published, will the duplicate post automatically be listed as the latest post? Or will it post at the date the original post was published? I saw in another question in this forum that there is an option in the settings to change this. But I don’t see it in the settings anywhere.

    Please advise.

  • Hello? Any word from the developer on my questions??

    Hi @bubbles015,
    sorry for the delay.

    1) I suppose social shares are added by some plugin or theme. I suggest you to ask the plugin’s or theme’s team to know which is the name of the custom field they’re using to store the shares, so you can add them to the Do not copy these fields textbox in the plugin settings.

    2) You have to visit SettingsDuplicate Post, first tab called What to copy, and check or uncheck the Date option, as you need.

Let me know if this helps!
