Hello!
The Facebook Apps may be used for a host of things–the scope in which this is as a tag is very limited, and only used for “oh, it’s you”-purposes. Although Facebook’s Open Graph debugger states it’s required, it’s not.
I know, this isn’t very useful, but the tag in and of itself isn’t; we’ve added it for completion and to halt support inquiries–after all, Facebook deems it as “required,” and emits an error on omission.
I think Facebook had, or still have, bigger plans for this; but they’ve never seen the light of day.
Thank you very much for your help! Much appreciated.
I am not 100% sure, but didn’t you ask the same question on Reddit too? If you are indeed a different person, I provided a bit more information there.
Cheers and have a nice weekend!
PS: If you are enjoying TSF, please consider writing a short review. It takes only 2 minutes but helps us a great deal. Of course, it is completely optional.
Yeah, it was me. 🙂 I actually saw your reply on my mobile app and as a desktop notification, but the full length reply is missing on Reddit – at least I don’t see it. Thanks anyway! Btw, I just left a review. 😉
Yeah, I didn’t get the reply either. I thought to myself, gee that guy could`ve at least give me an upvote. 😄 But the review is heaps better, only 0.04% users write reviews and since we do not annoy people instead of their own website dashboard, asking here is the only way. I hope you understand.
Sure, I’m in the mobile app publishing business and know how important positive reviews are. 🙂 Thanks again, you really deserve 5+ stars.
