Support » Theme: Relative » Social Menu – Icons are just cog-wheel icons

  • Resolved wpwd2016

I created a social menu, a single link and chose “social menu” selection in the menu window at the bottom for the social menu.

Looking at the site, it displays a cog-wheel icon. No reference to anything but a cog-wheel, no text, no hover label, the link itself works, but nothing else to it.

Is this part of the theme design or is it something created by WordPress themselves?

Depends on the social link you add in…which social site were you adding in?

I also just realized I should probably list out all the icons available for the theme in the setup tutorials.

    Yep, that works 🙂

A notation in the customizer would be the first place to mention that. Something like,

“Go to Appearance – Menus, create a new social menu, use your social media page link for custom menu items, check “social menu” to show social media icons and save menu”.

I was so use to seeing social links in the customizer as a separate “social links” section or in a separate “Theme options” doing the same.

Got to get with the times I guess.

You’ve set this as resolved, but were you able to solve the cog wheel icon (which is a fallback icon when one isn’t available) ?

Yep, that works – means resolved. The cog wheel magically transformed into the social media icons once I inserted the URL in the menu.
