• Recently upgraded wordpress from 3.5.1 to 4.4.1 The older version included index.php after the blog url.

The new version removes index.php from the url. Because the url structure is different now all of my facebook, google +, linkedin Likes are missing. When I set my permalinks to index.php/%postname%/ all of my likes reappear. Great, but this is not ideal because i have several new posts and resetting the permalink will erase all the social metrics on those posts.

Is there anyway to keep the permalink set to /%postname%/ but get all my likes back?

There is not, the social networks count shares based on the URL only. If that changes, as far as they’re concerned, it’s a new post.
