• Hi

From the blog, transformingautism.co.uk, when I share a post on social media, using any share buttons, the image shown with the post is not the featured image, even though that appears at the top of the post. It is taken from the “related posts” thumbnails lower down on the screen.

How can I make sure that it is the featured image that is shown when the post is shared?

    Hi,

To deal with this you’ll need to use an Open Graph or SEO plugin that sets the correct code for facebook to read (personally I use a SEO plugin for this as it gives other benefits as well, but there are many alternatives available https://wordpress.org/plugins/search.php?q=opengraph https://wordpress.org/plugins/search.php?q=seo )

Thanks. I have Yoast, with all the social media pages set up. But it is still ignoring the featured image when I share.

Actually, it is only on Google Plus that this problem occurs. It seems that Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn take the correct featured image, but Googe Plus always takes the same image regardless of which post is chosen to share.

    Any ideas?

There’s no specific code for G+ in Yoast any more, that might be related, I’m not quite sure how they handle it but you could probably ask on their forums as that’s a bit outside my area of expertise
