    Hi
There seems to be an incompatibility with Ultimate Facebook by WPMU DEV. Previously, without Advanced Ads, my Facebook Like/Send buttons worked fine on each post. Once I activate Advanced Ads they no longer show. I deactivate and they’re back again. Can you help? It may be an Ajaxy thing but I’m not sure. Site is starfleetcomms.com – I’ve tried in Edge and Chrome.
    Thanks.

    Hi JR104,

    thanks for reaching out.

I am sorry the social media buttons disappeared. Taking a look at your site, I can not make out a cause. There are some JavaScript errors that might be related, though.

You can see these issues using the advice on https://codex.wordpress.org/Using_Your_Browser_to_Diagnose_JavaScript_Errors.

I checked for AJAX calls, but there are none, so this might not be it.

I think I would need to see both versions, with and without Advanced Ads enabled to narrow it down. Does it happen only when Advanced Ads is enabled, but no ads are showing up or in general?

    Thanks
    Thomas

    Further investigation has revealed something.
Try this in full / normal browser view:
    https://www.starfleetcomms.com/review-ember-war-richard-fox/
Near the beginning of the content, under the title you’ll see an Ad.But no social buttons.
Change the browser to 300px wide or so.
Refresh the page, no ad (fine) but the social buttons come back…

    Hi JR104,

    thanks for the link.

I always see the ad and never the social icons in Firefox and Chrome with any width I tried. Anyway, I still found the icons in the source code now and there is no CSS or Layout or even content attached to them.

Are you maybe testing as a logged in user and as a normal visitor I might see a different, uncached, version of your site?

    Thanks
    Thomas

I see your point but that’s not consistent with what I see logged out. What do you want me to do?
I can turn off your plugin and the icons appear and function correctly. Would you like me to do that?

It would help if you could use the display conditions of that add to turn it off on one post and let me know where. I can compare it to a post where the ad shows up and maybe I spot the problem.

    Thanks

    Great, thanks.
Ok I’ve turned ads off here:
    Ads are off.
    And ads are on here:
    Ads are on.

    Thank you for the links.

The outputted code is different, which might be because a filter of the social button plugin failed.

Please let me know if one of these methods work:

    a) use the “Content” placement instead of the “Before Content” and insert the ad after the first paragraph
    b) go to Advanced Ads > Settings > General and change the setting for “Priority of content injection filter” to 5, then 10, then 20, then 1000.

    Thanks

    Hi
I tried option b because a represented too much of a change to the layout I wanted.
Using b, I used all the values you suggested and settled on 10 as that seemed to work for me.
    Thanks for your help!

Thanks for the feedback and glad it works now. When I get my hands on that plugin in the future then I will run some tests and see if there is a general problem or only a conflict with that this one.

    Thanks for your help!

    Thomas
