 * I recently downloaded FileZilla so I could use a template and redesign my workplace’s
website. It keeps telling me that the password I’m typing is incorrect. Is there
something else I should be using? And how can I get that information?
 * My other problem is when I try to access some pages on WordPress.org (yes, I
checked it wasn’t a .com issue) it will tell me that my workplace’s account doesn’t
exist. I had to create this throwaway account to access the forums for help.
I can, however, access the dashboard fine.
 * What gives?

 * 1. FTP access (FileZilla) is not part of WordPress, so you won’t use your WordPress
site’s account to log into it. FTP access has to be setup through your hosting
account’s control panel (not WordPress), so consult your hosting provider’s documentation
   for further details.
 * 2. WordPress.org itself is entirely separate from how you log into your site,
so you do need a separate account on WordPress.org to do things on WordPress.
   org.

 * Thank you for the response, James. What info should I look for in my provider’s
   documentation?
 * The WordPress.org statement seems a bit ridiculous. Not to say you’re wrong,
but why wouldn’t accounts be across the website? Isn’t that the point of an account?

 * I found the Hosting Control Center page on my dashboard, but that won’t let me
sign in with my boss’ website information either. Can you explain this process
   to me?

 * I’ve searched the far reaches of the internet and this is quite literally my
only source of information on this topic, so I would appreciate as many people
adding to this conversation as possible.

 * I’m posting a lot but in the interest of communication…. My boss has absolutely
no information to provide for me as far as who our webhost is, so I also need
to know if there is somewhere I can go in my dashboard to find out. Google isn’t
much help for any of my questions.
 * Can you tell this is my first time navigating WordPress? I have never had so
many problems putting a website together. Yikes.

 * I cannot, there are thousands (millions?) of hosting providers, and they all
operate differently. Search your hosting provider’s documentation for “FTP”,
and if you don’t find anything, contact their support.

 * What we provide here is software that you can use to run your site, provided
for free, built and supported entirely by volunteers. We don’t have the infrastructure,
nor really the desire, to build a connected account system between WordPress.
org itself and the millions (billions?) of individual WordPress websites.
 * Additionally, think of it as a security bonus, no one with access to WordPress.
org itself (myself included) has access to your site’s Dashboard.

 * While you’re waiting to sort out FTP access with your hosting provider, I recommend
