Hi @simonjonharding,
Please know our plugin cannot parse the shortcode in the snippet preview. However, this shortcode is automatically parsed in the source code of your webpage as seen here – https://a.supportally.com/i/8RpFEy which has the correct meta description.
Please let me know if you have any other questions.
Thanks!

Hi.
Thanks for your reply.
Firstly, *Run Shortcodes* is set to off in the AIOSEO settings.
Secondly, I have manually entered a meta description for each page now in order to get around the issue.
If I use the “Page Content” tag, rather than pulling the first few characters from the page content it instead displays Elementor CSS.
In this example I have used the “Page Content” tag to demonstrate: https://eurovisionshow.uk/sitemap/
Obvioulsy I can manually enter a description for this page too – but I wanted to highlight the error when using the tag.
Hi @simonjonharding,
Thanks for the follow-up.
In checking that page URL, the Meta Description contains only text –
https://a.supportally.com/i/a6da8V
The shortcodes will only be displayed in the editor (Snippet Preview) and will not be in your published page source code.
If you could share a URL where the Meta Description contains markup in the page source code, I would be happy to take a look at it.
Thanks!
Hi @simonjonharding,
We haven’t heard back from you in a couple of days. I’m going to go ahead and close this thread for now. But if you’d like us to assist, please feel welcome to continue the conversation.
Thanks!
