# [Plugin: WP Smush.it] SmushIt API

 * I am trying to get something similar done for [Gallery 3](http://gallery.menalto.com/).
   SmushIt website says the API is [not publicly available](http://developer.yahoo.com/yslow/smushit/faq.html#faq_api).
   How can I grab hold of the API?

 * I’m not sure what their policy is. When I first built the plugin I asked them
   for permission and they said it was okay to use their API. Over the years their
   policies have been a little vague — I’ve posted in [Yahoo!’s “Exceptional Performance” group](http://tech.groups.yahoo.com/group/exceptional-performance/)
   whenever I needed a clarification, and they’ve been pretty responsive.

 * It’s strange as on [http://developer.yahoo.com/yslow/smushit/faq.html#faq_api](http://developer.yahoo.com/yslow/smushit/faq.html#faq_api)
   it says
    “The API currently is not available for public use. We are working towards
   making this publicly accessible”
 * Makes it sound as if the API was never publicly available, and they are trying
   to release a public version…
