When the smush plugin is activated on my site, my slider revolution sliders don’t show images. If I deactivate smush, the sliders then work fine. Slider Revolution Version is 5.4.8.2 and smush is Version 3.2.0.1.

  • Hi @rfuchs,

Are you referring to Smush Lazy loading feature? Or just Smush? Lazy loading and Revolution Slider support will be improved in the upcoming update.

I was referring to a slider at the top of my page that works if I deactivate smush plugin but doesn’t show the images in the slider if I reactivate smush. It is currently deactivated and you can see the slider at https://photogbooker.com/why-join-us/ doesn’t load the images.

However, after further testing, it is only when the Smush Lazy Load feature is activated that the images don’t load in the slider.

    Appreciate the update here @rfuchs

As Anton stated above, the RevSlider and Smush Lazyloading integration is coming up in the next plugin update! :tada:

    Thank you,
    Dimitris

This issue is marked resolved, however I am having the same problem.

There has not been an update to the Smush plugin apparently. It has been 1 week, 4 days sine the ISSUE WAS MARKED RESOLVED.

I am making this note because WP Live told me the issue has been resolved due to it being marked resolved, however it is not. Therefore, it wasted some of my work time and I want the next person to see this note. I hope you release an update soon.

I turned Smush off till then. However, different than the person above said… My picture slider is not displaying any pictures. Before running smush it was displaying pictures exsactly how I want them.

I have 270 images in my media library! How may I un-smush them so my website displays properly? Or do I need to delete all these images and re-upload them and THEN rebuild my picture sliders?

Extremely disappointed in this plug-in. Haven’t left review yet.

    Smush Version= 3.2.0.1
    Slider Revolution Version= 5.4.8.2

FYI – I called WP Live back and once SMUSH IS TURNED OFF if I build a NEW picture slider and use the images in my media library (withou8t uploading new images) the slider will work.

At least I can get my client a working website. I will not turn Smush back on until this issue is commented by the developer that it is fixed.

    Thank you for your time.

    Smush Version= 3.2.0.1

    @mochicones,

You can configure Smush to exclude the revslider images. You should either use lazy loading from Revolution Slider or from Smush, don’t use both. If you prefer the implementation of lazy loading in the slider, either turn it of in Smush, or exclude the slider image class, for example this one: .rev-slidebg. This way lazy loading from Smush will work for the site, and lazy loading from Revolution Slider will work for the sliders.

Thanks for your quick reply! I have five questions. Can you please clarify, (1) what is lazy loading?

Can you also please clarify (2) where that code “.rev-slidebg” goes? And when you said (3) exsample, does that mean it’s based on the revolution slider name? I think I have a quantity of 6 sliders made in revolution slider.

My only images on my website are in rev slider. (4) Do I need to fuck with smush at all or find a new plug in that’s compatible?

    (5) Any idea when you will fix the compatibility issue? If it’s in the next month or two i’ll Just wait it out with compressing turned off….

    Hi @mochicones,

    Sure,

    1) Lazy loading is an option in both Smush and Revolution Slider that allows your site to load images only when a user scrolls them into view. It keeps the load down, because you don’t need to preload images all at once. It’s not working properly, because the two similar functions conflict with each other.

    2) You can exclude any image by class or ID. Each class or ID can be added in Smush – Lazy Load section in the Classes & IDs textarea.

    3) That’s one of the classes, used by Revolution Slider, but in your case you might exclude some other class. I would need to take a look at your slider to give you a more detailed answer.

    4) Smush Lazy loading feature is in beta, so it can have some bugs at the moment, but we are preparing a new release to improve compatibility and stability of the feature. If you want a stable solution for all your image optimization, keep Smush, it’s being used be millions. And we have some great new features coming to the free version 😉

    5) The revolution slider fix is being tested now, and should be released soon. I can’t give the exact date of release, but it should be out soon. Also, if you want, I can guide you through the code changes you need to do in order to make it work now, so you don’t need to wait for the update.

Huh. Ok thanks. This is over my head butthanks for the reply. I’ll have the WO Live phone support peeps walk me through your suggestions. Thx!

    @mochicones,

    Welcome!

When I read this thread, I thought maybe it would solve my problem with revolution slider not showing the slides unless I’m logged in to wordpress. I made sure the smush lazy load was not turned on, but it didn’t help. I can only see the slide show when I’m logged in to wordpress.

Wow. I tried your suggestion of disabling plugins one by one and I was able to solve my problem. The WP Fast Cache was the problem.
    Thanks.

I’m still having the same problem with Lazy Loading and Revolution Slider.
I have Smush Version 3.3.1 and Revolution Slider Version 6.1.3.
The class .rev-slidebg only works if the image is a background but if I add an image as a layer, it doesn’t load.

Only solution I have found is to deactivate Lazy Loading on smush.

    Is there any other fix?

    Hi @quiquemorme,

Could you please post a link to the slider in question? I was not able to replicate on a test install with Revolution Slider 6.1.4.

    Best regards,
    Anton

Hello! I have the same problem! Even though I have the lazy load option off in Revolution Slider, it still doesn’t show the images in my website. The only option I have is to turn off the lazy load in all the front page of my website, but that is giving me a lot of problems.

Im not sure how to add a class to avoid the lazy load in the images that are included in the slides. I’ve tried a lot of things but still doesnt work.
