We have set up the email to be sent to all subscribers when a new post is posted on the website. We use a Google Apps hosted email (hello@ourdomain.com, where the MX records are hosted on Google) and we have confirmed that the info is absolutely correct.

    SMTP.gmail.com
    Port 465
    SSL enabled
    Username: hello@ourdomain.com (full email)
    Password: correct one

Yet, when we test a send, we keep getting an error message:

The email could not be sent: Expected response code 250 but got code "535", with message "535-5.7.8 Username and Password not accepted. Learn more at..

    What are we missing?

It was my issue. Gmail needs now that we enable an option in Security settings in admin.gmail.com — “Allow less secure apps”. MAde this change it and it now works via WordPress plugins too.

    Hi there @morespinach,

Glad to hear you got this solved! If we can help with anything, please don’t hesitate to ask. 🙂

    Thanks!
