smilies appear too high (in relation to text) (4 posts)

I would like to convert emoticons to graphics in my blog, but when I do, each emoticon graphic appears "superscripted" - ie it's higher than the text surrounding it. This isn't such a big deal at the end of a paragraph, but in the middle of a paragraph, it breaks the paragraph up because of the extra blank space required.

I've tried using different sets of smilies, including sets which work elsewhere (eg LiveJournal), but get the same result. I've also tried using different themes, but again, same thing.

Any idea why this is happening, and how it can be remedied?

this occurs because the size of the smiley's is too large compared to the size of the text. You can either make the text size bigger, prolly atleast size 15 font, or you can find smaller smiley images as the standard ones that come with WP I believe are 15x15 pixels.

you could also increase the vertical spacing between text. I think there's a command for it in css, but I can't remember it off the top of my head.

The above are smaller and don't break things up as much.

Hm... right now I'm using part of the square faces set from http://www.livejournal.com/moodlist.bml?moodtheme=6 - are these really too big? I don't know where I'd start looking for something smaller!
