Since I have updated to 3.4 I have an issue when the plugin “footnotes” is active

I have a slider with an shadow. In the imag you see the white spce which is exactly the spae of the slider (don’t know if with or without shadow).

When I deactivate footnotes the slider is working. Before 3.4 the slider was working together with footnotes.

Any ideea how to solve this?

    Hi @check2020de,
thanks for reporting this issue. Could you link us that plugin which cause the conflict? We would like to test it, but there are several plugins on WordPress.org with similar name.

@check2020de, I just tried, but it worked fine. Is it possible that it is related with the site specific settings of the Footnotes plugin or another plugin involved in this conflict?

For testing I deactivated all plugins excluding smart slider and footnotes… same issue.
Settings? Hmmm… don’t know which this could be

Could you print screen the settings of Footnotes plugin and also your content where the error appears(in the editor)? Here is mine: https://imgur.com/a/1JQkBrN

When I uncheck “the_content” in footnotes > expert mode the issue is gone… but with this the footnote function

@check2020de, well that option is like the plugin deactivation. That is not the cause of the conflict. I think it is related the structure of your content, but it is hard to guess without seeing it. The best would be if I could reproduce it somehow on my test site.

Ok, got it now. It was strange, the SmartSlider update was destroying “something”. Looks like it was a hiccup. After the update the footnotes plugin was the first creating issues, then rank math, premium addons for elementor,…

I used re-installed the entire site now with a backup (files and db) from last night… and everything is working. After this I did all the plugin updates… and it is still working šŸ™‚

Looks realy that it was a hiccup in the update process and not an issue with the update.

Thanks @nextendweb for your quick reply and your attemp to help. Such a support isn’t normal, I’m impressed!

    Hi @check2020de

This is great news! I’m glad it worked out, even if I’m not really sure what might have been the problem.

What I suspect is that maybe something went wrong during the update, like maybe there was a temporary server maintenance, and that was the root of the problem.

In any case, I’m happy it worked out!

OH NOOOOOOO…. It’s back šŸ™ I forgot to delete the browser cache after installing footnote šŸ™

Funny, I have the plugin “WP Rollback” installed. I rolled back to 3.3.28 and the issue ist gone. So I can’t update Smart Slider any longer šŸ™

    Hi @check2020de

Can you please send us a screenshot about footnotes settings at: https://smartslider3.com/contact-us/support/?ref=https://wordpress.org/support/topic/smart-slider-3-4-footnotes/

Does the problem happen with one specific slider, or with all of them? Can you export one of the sliders where the problem happens and send us it’s .ss3 file via the contact form?

    Here are the footnote settings

    https://dlgo.de/fn1.png
    https://dlgo.de/fn2.png
    https://dlgo.de/fn3.png

…but it looks like you are right asking for different sliders

I have one slider on my start page and one in the sidebar. The sidebar is working, the start page not. When I add a new slider with just one image and place it on the start page it is working.

Funny that a dedicated slider has an issue with another plugin.

Hope you can reproduce the issue on your side with the ss3 file.

The footnoo plugin shows a reference in the text of a post and place it at the bottom of the post… hat iishow footnotes is working.

When I look now on my start page with the broken slider foodnotes displays now a reference on teh buttom of the page (which didn’t happened in te 3.3.28 version). Think the content which the footnoote plugin shows could be helpfull

    https://dlgo.de/fn4.png

Footnotes is looking for text starting with (( and ending with )), everything between will be used as a footnote and displayed at the page buttom. Within the text the content between the (( and )) will be replaced with a capitalized number. Think this is destroying the source code of smart slider.
