I’ve had this problem for a while now, but have dealt with it. But it’s become even more so annoying after upgrading to the latest version.

Before, Yoast SEO would not remove my stop words, so I did it all manually.

Now, on the latest version, slugs don’t change at all.

Previously, if I’d started writing a post before I gave it a title, WordPress would give it a number slug until I gave it a title and hit save draft, where it would then turn the number slug into “post-title-slug-here” or what have you, where I’d then just remove the stops.

Now, in the case a number slug is automatically applied and I hit save draft after adding the title, it doesn’t update from that number slug at all. I’ve had a few posts where I didn’t notice this and had to go back and edit the slugs to be SEO friendly, and as a result, lost many likes and such.

    What’s the problem here? :3

  • I am also have this issue. The slugs do not change I have to manually change them.

Same problem here, the latest versions of Yoast SEO (since around version 3) record the first draft title as the definitive permalink.

This is a real problem : many posts are published with the wrong permalink, or even no permalink at all, just numbers!

    Please fix…

Rolled back to version 2.3.5 to fix the issue, but draft posts created when plugin version 3.x was active remain wrong and must be fixed manually. So be careful.
