# Slug/Permalink – Need clarification.

 * I have previously used a wiki site that utilized () around a word if you wanted
   it to auto link to a page that had the same name as the word you had just typed.
 * Does slug/permalink somehow give you this ability with wordpress? Doing a search
   using terms like “link/permalink/slug and etc have only left me going in circles
   for hours and hours.
 * All I want to know is if there is a “method” that allows me to link keywords 
   when I am writing, to a corresponding page.
 * Additionally, I found the permalink section and created my own .htaccess. So 
   if a simple explanation of how slug works will help me achieve this “wikieqsue”
   goal, I am all ears. The Faq for slug and google searches did nothing for me.

 * The slug and permalink have nothing to do with auto-linking, only with how your
   URLs appear. However, there are a number of auto-linking WordPress plugins (try
   a Google search since the plugin search here is really poor).

 * I appreciate the response. All of the google results were even worse. They were
   all from random sites that posted about autolink from 2006-2007. Which appears
   to hit databases outside of your website. I am only wanting the autolinking within
   my website.
 * I also tried: [http://downloads.wordpress.org/plugin/rb-internal-links.zip](http://downloads.wordpress.org/plugin/rb-internal-links.zip)
 * It works for your internal linking, but it still requires you to manually link
   each and every instance.
 * I don’t suppose you have found a plugin somewhere that you could recommened, 
   that is similar to my needs/desires ?

 * Things to note:
 * 1. Its highly advised that you use permalinks
    2. Make sure you go to the “settings/
   autolnik” area to configure. 3. Enjoy wikiesque linking.
