• This issue may or may not be directly related to my Modern Events Calendar plugin. I’ve already tried contacting Webnus about their Modern Events Calendar and gone back and forth with their tech support, but still can’t get this resolved. I’m hoping someone here can help.

My calendar should be here: https://www.mpslakers.com/events. I also have a listing page here https://www.mpslakers.com/events-calendar. The /events-calendar page is fine. The problem is with /events.

When I load https://www.mpslakers.com/events, the browser loads the CSV file I used to import the events, not the actual page. I’ve cleared my caches several times — WordPress and browser caches. I’ve viewed on other devices. I’ve also tried renaming the events.csv file from the import. I just now tried to delete the events.csv file from https://www.mpslakers.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/08/events.csv. I then reloaded http://www.mpslakers.com/events and got a 404 error, so I put the CSV file back.

So my problem is that I can’t figure out what is causing my ‘events’ slug to refresh to the CSV file.

Ultimately I’d really like to have /events refresh to /events-calendar so I have more control over how the page header looks. I really need to use /events as the page I direct users to because it’s already on all of our mailings, stationary, etc.

Thank you in advance to anyone who can tell me what I’m doing wrong. This has been driving me nuts!

Can you try creating another new page for the events. This actually seems like a plugin issue

I’m sorry, I don’t know what you mean by ‘another new page for the events’. Can you please clarify?

And yes, I agree that it’s likely a plugin issue. I’ve contacted ME Calendar’s support a few times now, but they keep having me send them screenshots and telling me to clear my caches.

    Thank you.

I meant to create another page to view the events. Example: mpslakers[dot]com/test-events.

I suggest you to keep asking them about this situation, or try another events plugin.

    Hello @a2hostingrj:

OK, I’ll try that. I’ve contacted them again and impressed upon them that it’s not a caching issue, and as a pro user, I’d like to be escalated to a higher level of support.

I’ve already sent them screenshots and a QuickTime video. I wait days for a lukewarm less-than-helpful response.

I really don’t want to have to start over with another calendar plugin, but I might have no other choice. I was using Timely and loved their product, but their fees skyrocketed, and their newest version isn’t as nice anyway. So I’ve already moved everything at least once or twice within the past year.

Do you use a calendar plugin or have one you would recommend?

Thank you for your suggestions — I appreciate the help.

    What’s your project about?

    @a2hostingrj:

The calendar is here right now: https://www.mpslakers.com/events-calendar. It’s a school calendar for a high school and this is our public events calendar — athletics, plays, fundraisers, concerts, etc. When I had it on Timely, I was able to allow users the ability to subscribe to events – all calendar items, specific sports (maybe for a parent whose kid participated in that sport), etc. ME Calendar apparently can’t allow subscriptions – just RSS feeds. Well, I think that’s true – I’ve spent so much time trying to get the slug issue fixed that I don’t really know what else I can do. I like having a lot of control over the design and layout and being able to add widgets like maps. I have two CSV files — one for events and one for venues — so I’d want something that supports uploads, although I can’t imagine a product that wouldn’t.

If you happen to know of anything that might work well, please let me know – although I realize you’ve already spent considerable time with me on this issue.

    Thank you!

Yeah, that’s a very complete Calendar plugin. There’s a free calendar plugin that some of the features described above, I suggest you to take a look at it:
