Support » Plugin: Site Kit by Google » Slowed my site and messed up my GA

  • Removed this after a few weeks. It caused my site to run slowly, messed up my GA figures as it didn’t recognise that I already had GA installed via GTM and also, not really a complaint but still frustrating, seemed to permanently need an update, like every single week…. giving it a break until it’s through its teething problems.

@samdive thanks for sharing and we’re sorry you’ve experienced some issues.

In terms of performance, Site Kit should have minimal impact. While you can choose to add the standard tracking scripts from Site Kit to the frontend of your site, additional scripts may load from Adsense when using Auto ads or from tags in a Tag Manager container. If you’d like to open a support topic, we can investigate this further with you.

Sorry for the inconvenience with Analytics. We’re currently working on the best way for our Analytics connection to detect the Google Analytics integration for Tag Manager. We’ll keep you updated on the progress.

In the meantime, you can choose to either use Site Kit’s snippet or Tag Manager for implementing GA tracking. If you choose Tag Manager, you can manually configure the Analytics settings to display the data dashboards in Site Kit.

We provide updates regularly to release fixes, enhancements and new features. With that said, I’ll provide your feedback to the team regarding the frequency.

Much appreciation for the helpful feedback @samdive !
