Slowdown and errors after editing

    I took on this project a few days ago for a friend and noticed that her WP hadn’t been updated in a long time, so I updated it to 3.5.1.

    The next day, I check the site and it takes over a minute to load the home page and sometimes even gives me an internal server error. Same thing happens with the dashboard.

    I found a fix for a similar problem. So I created a php.ini file and added it to /wp-admin/. This fix solved it up until I actually go in and edit ANYTHING on the site.

    I’m using a highly customized K2 theme 1.0. There is an 1.3 update available. Could the old theme be causing a conflict with the newer version of WP? If so, should I update? And after I do, if I restore my database, will all the customization be restored as well? I noticed that K2 hasn’t been updated in a couple of years… Should I downgrade? If so, to what version?

    What else could be the problem? Please help! 😐

    K2 theme is not listed in the WP free them directory.

    You may want to contact the theme’s vendor.
