Slow Publishing and Unresponsive Apache

Good afternoon all,

I’ve been experiencing some issues with my WordPress 1.5.1.3 install lately. I’m running on Apache 2.0.54 and PHP 5.0.4.

On the initial publish of a post, everything is speedy. If I go back and edit that post, the page will never continue. I try to access my site (http://www.longren.org) while it’s still trying to publish, and it won’t respond at all.

I end up having to restart apache and everything is running smooth again. The changes I make to the post are indeed updated and shown correctly on the site.

I see a bunch of errors in my apache error log. They look like this:
PHP Warning: mysql_affected_rows() [<a href='function.mysql-affected-rows'>function.mysql-affected-rows</a>]: A link to the server could not be established in /usr/local/apache/htdocs/wp-includes/wp-db.php on line 155

Any help in this matter would be greatly appreciated. I can provide you with a wealth of information on my specific setup if need be.
