    Hi there,
I’m currently using Anyflip and am looking to switch to your paid version of DearFlip. I have installed the free version for testing but have found the load speed very slow. I have the exact same pdf on Anyflip and it loads more a less instantly.
I have followed your FAQ’s and put the code in to remove gZip for PDF. I’m using shared hosting with 20i and the speeds are very good for all my sites.
Any help to speed this up would be appreciated
    Colin

    Hi,

AnyPDF uses images to display the PDF file. It converts them to images. DearFlip doesn’t.

Also, AnyFlip creates pages of size 100-200KB so the whole PDF will become 20-40MB, whereas your PDF size is 122MB, a huge size gap.

Please compress your PDF. see the difference that AnyFlip creates.
There are benefits of using images vs PDF. images don’t need extra library to render, so start instantly. We offer the same speed if you use images and a non-3D version.

PDFs are easier to manage than images, and if your PDF is text-driven, PDFs win hands down.

At last, it comes to PDF compression and size.
Have a look at some test compression we did, and the file is 60MB. you can improve to around 40MB since it’s for the web.

    Hi @deip,
Thanks so much for your prompt and detailed response.
I will have a look at reducing PDF size as much as I can and try again.
Can you recommend a good tool for PDF compression? (I just tried SmallPDF and it said “Your file is already compressed incredibly well. Even our magic compression formula can’t make it any smaller. Sorry.”)

    Kind Regards,
    Colin

    Hi,

PDF compression is a tricky subject.

If you have the original document then compressing results better result.

If you compress already exported PDF, it will be lower quality.

Best Compression is to be done while exporting from the source document.

    You can try this:
    https://sourceforge.net/projects/workerpdf/

It Will be slow, but ebook mode is crucial.
“Convert to PS first” is the size is bigger.
