Slow page loads – how do I tell if its is me or my web host provider

  • I began noticing that pages on all my sites seem to load really slow. Even when I am in dashboard it sometimes takes up to 10 seconds or more for the next screen to come up.

I contacted my web host tech support and they used some speed tests with http://gtmetrix.com/ and told me its my WordPress installation.

I considered using the W3 Total Cache to see if that makes a difference but the Plugin page says it is broken for the current version of WordPress.

Here are screenshots of the speedtest:

One of the sites that has been running slow is http://www.130poundsgone.com

Are some themes better than others in terms of being fast?

And can anyone point me to a good tutorial on how to optimize images for responsive pages while also being small as possible?
