Title: Slow Load Speed Last modified: August 21, 2016 --- # Slow Load Speed * [huntbook](https://wordpress.org/support/users/huntbook/) * (@huntbook) * [12 years, 10 months ago](https://wordpress.org/support/topic/slow-load-speed-1/) * My host (fatcow) recommended that I upgrade to VPS to decrease my load speed. I did, and I am now loading at 8-9 seconds, which is better but I expected faster speeds from VPS. I use theme twenty eleven, have a cache and a smushit plugin, and have removed the plugins I thought I could. My plugin load time is about 1 second, so that doesn’t seem to be the problem. I would like to get to under 5 seconds. * Fatcow tells me my homepage is too big. Does making posts sticky slow down load time? Anyone know how I can reduce the size of my homepage? * I am not convinced that I needed an upgrade, or if Fatcow simply wanted to sell me more expensive service.
