# SLOW

 * Hello! I’ve trawled the last 20 or so pages on this forum and didn’t find a thread
   like this already open, but please let me know if there is!
 * Since the initial installation about 7 months ago my site (www.inkyfingers.net)
   has been slow, excruciatingly slow: Close to 20 seconds to load front and back
   ends.
 * I’ve tried deactivating all plugins and reactivating one by one, but nothing 
   seems to make any difference. Actually, I installed WP Total Cache and that actually
   made things even slower!
 * I hope someone can help me out… Any info you need I’ll supply to the best of 
   my ability, but I am not a WP whizz!

 * Have you tried:
 * – switching to the default theme to rule out any theme-specific problems.
 * – [resetting the plugins folder](http://codex.wordpress.org/FAQ_Troubleshooting#How_to_deactivate_all_plugins_when_not_able_to_access_the_administrative_menus.3F)
   by FTP or PhpMyAdmin. Sometimes, an apparently inactive plugin can still cause
   problems.
 * – re-uploading all files & folders – **except** the wp-content folder and wp-
   config.php & root .htaccess files – from a **fresh** download of WordPress. Make
   sure that you delete the old copies of files & folder before uploading the new
   ones.
