  • I’ve used this plugin before and it was great. This install is super slow. I saw some posts online about issues with speed of Ultimate plugins. Please help. We spent a ton of time entering the FAQs and now we are stuck with the speed issue. Hoping to resolve. Thanks 🙂

    Hi shizart,

Do you experience slow loading of FAQs in a specific case or is it for everything you do on FAQs page? You will notice that are a couple of console errors on your FAQ page. That being said, did you recently add any new plugins or themes as they might conflict with our FAQs plugin and cause slow load times. In that case, could you try switching off all other plugins apart from UFAQ and see if that makes a difference? You could also try switching to a default WordPress theme to rule out any possibility of conflict with the theme that you might be using. There is also the possibility that your server doesn’t process the database queries quickly, which wouldn’t help with the catalogue performance.

Thank you for the rapid response. We are able to do a few tests you recommended. If it were a conflict with the theme or other plugins, we’d need use something else for FAQ. I see nothing in the error console. I believe the database issue you raised to be the cause as that is also what I thought. Did you go to the url I sent? You would see that it loads slow. How can we check the speed of the queries? If that is it, how do we fix? We use SiteGround.com for hosting.

I added another FAQ and tested that plugin. It wasn’t as good as yours but it loaded in a normal fashion (not slow). We are loading all the FAQ’s on one page. Does that matter?

Having all your FAQs on one page would only matter if you had a very high number of FAQs and a lot of content in each one. You have a lot of FAQs on that page, but, given the little amount of content in each, it shouldn’t be enough to cause it to load as slowly as it is. You could always test by only putting, for example, 5 or 10 FAQs on a page, to see if it makes a difference.

There are indeed a couple of JS errors in the console every time we visit your page (see screenshot here for reference). I’m not too sure what kind of impact they’re having on the JS of our plugin loading, but it would be a good idea, either way, to look into why those are showing up.

As for the queries, there are numerous avenues for testing that. There are plugins that will do it. Or your host may have a tool for that. We can’t say with any certainty that that is having an effect on the load times, but it’s worth checking.

Another thing that could be affecting it is if your theme has JavaScript animations (e.g. a page loading effect). Perhaps, for some reason, those could be conflicting. If you disabled those, or temporarily tested a different theme, does it still load slowly?
