I love JetPack stats because of the day-at-a-glance layout, but the plugin really slows down my site and since I don’t use any of the other modules, people are always telling me to use something else.

I’ve been looking for an alternative for ages, and from the screenshots I’ve seen, it looks like Slimstat might be it. Before I install it though, I’d love to hear from people who know both plugins. Is Slimstat just as good? Is it faster, less resource intensive?

Thanks for responding, Jason. I have read the reviews – very impressive!

I really like it with a couple of exceptions compared to Jetpack.
    1. For some reason, my current page views do not show today’s numbers. The most recent page stats show yesterday’s numbers. This just started happening. I think they are fixing this in the next update.
    2. There is a feature called visitor activity which is really cool, but the time is not coverted to my time zone, so I am not really sure when the activity took place. This may be addressed in the next update as well.

I do like the simplicity of Jetpack’s day at a glance layout, but slimstat is pretty good once you get it set up correctly.

Thank you for your feedback, @tmg777wp. As you said, #1 is going to be addressed in the next update, where a new option will allow our users to decide if they want to stick with the “old” behavior or the new one. For #2, Slimstat uses WordPress’ timezone settings to calculate all its dates and times, so you may need to adjust that information under Settings > General in WP to make it work.

Let me know if this helps,
    Jason

Well my time zone settings are set to Chicago (Central), but in the visitor activity widget when someone visits my website at 11:00am it shows 6:00am inside the widget. I don’t know if there is a glitch in the plugin or what, but all of my other plugins and website reflect the correct time. FYI.

@tmg777wp, if you don’t mind, can we discuss this in a separate thread, so to not hijack @lklawless’s original post? Please feel free to start a new thread.

    Jason
