 * Hello
 * I’m having trouble with slim stats. It has recorded more than 400 hits for the
   day. This is impossible. It is also tracking my movement and pagviews which I
   don’t want it to do. Can anyone offer any help. I’m having so much trouble with
   my blog as i feel someone has compromised my blog. I feel like calling my web
   host and deleting the whole thing.

 * Hi,
 * I’m the developer of WP SlimStat. My plugin does not track your visits when you
   browse the admin panels. Are you sure those visits are not coming from some search
   engine or from your own IP address? If you want, please post a screenshot on
   my support forum at [http://lab.duechiacchiere.it/](http://lab.duechiacchiere.it/)
   so that I can take a look at your issue.

 * Camu
 * Thanks for your reply ….I don’t understand how can it track my IP?
    Does slim
   stat track my movement if I’m looking through my posts on my frontpage? I will
   try to get a screen shot to you. I’m sure I don’t have 400 hits. I’m using Woopra
   and it doesn’t show any number close to slimstat. I like slimstat as it is very
   in depth.

 * Yes, it does. You can filter one or more IP addresses under Settings > SlimStat
   > Filters. Or tell the plugin to ignore visits generated by logged in users (
   admin) wherever you are browsing your site from.

 * Camu
 * I set it so admin is filtered. It was already set not to track logged in users.
   What concerns me is ‘Who can view the reports’ If this field is empty, all users(
   but subscribers) will have access to the reports.
 * ‘Who can manage these options’ if this field is empty, all users (but subscribers)
   will have access to the options panel.
 * Does that mean whoever visits my site can view my stats?
    I don’t know how to
   filter my IP as it is dynamic.
 * Man I’m so confused ….I want to use slimstat. I also use Google Analytics and
   Woopra ….what I want to do is reset all three to zero and start over. I’m waiting
   to hear from woopra support because it is also tracking my stats as is GA. Is
   there a way to zero out GA?
    Thanks Jaco

 * > Does that mean whoever visits my site can view my stats?
 * No, only registered and logged in users, except those with the Subscriber role.
 * > what I want to do is reset all three to zero and start over.
 * From Settings/SlimStat, choose the Maintenance tab and click “Delete Stats.”
 * > Is there a way to zero out GA?
 * You’d have to delete your site’s profile in GA and re-add it.
 * Also, have you selected “No” at “Track users” under the General tab at Settings/
   SlimStat?

 * Do webmasters generally set sites not to track logged in users?

 * I know that’s directed to Camu, but I’ll chip in anyway. 🙂
 * If you run a site where you are the only logged in user, disabling the tracking
   of logged in users is a great way to keep your own activity out of the stats.
 * However, if most of your visitors are logged in (for example, you require users
   to register and login to comment), this setting would make your stats practically
   useless.

 * Mac
 * I have set track users to no ….thanks.
 * Mac am I to understand only those who are registered to my blog/site can view
   the stats? As for logged in I don’t quite follow you. I have wp admin bar installed.
   Is that visible to visitors? what about those who have blogs at wp .com? could
   they use the admin bar to login?
 * Thanks Mac …I’m getting closer to getting my blog straightened out and am learning
   much along the way thanks to you and Camu and Samuel 🙂

 * Mac
 * I’m using Disqus but logging in to comment is optional. So I’ve disabled tracking
   of logged in users.
    Thanks

 * > Mac am I to understand only those who are registered to my blog/site can view
   > the stats?
 * Yes, as long as they are not Subscribers, which is the default user role. They
   would have to manually promoted by you to a higher role in order to view your
   stats.
 * > As for logged in I don’t quite follow you.
 * If you required your visitors to register and login to comment (an ufortunately
   common and annoying anti-spam practice, just my opinion), they would of course
   have to login to comment. Therefore, any visitor wishing to comment on your blog
   would be logged in and untracked.
 * > I have wp admin bar installed. Is that visible to visitors?
 * It’s only visible to logged in users with the Administrator role.
 * > what about those who have blogs at wp .com? could they use the admin bar to
   > login?
 * WordPress.com and your self-hosted WordPress blog are entirely separate.

 * > I’m using Disqus but logging in to comment is optional.
 * That’s entirely separate of the feature I was referring to. Since the users are
   logged in with Disqus and not your blog, you can safely set “Track users” to “
   No” and it will only filter your activity.

 * Mac
 * Thanks for all your help. I have everything reset to zero. And I’ll be careful
   of which plugins I install. I guess one can go kinda crazy installing plugins
   that aren’t really essential. I’m one of those people 🙂 but I’ll install only
   what is useful. Thanks again to you Mac and Camu ….
