After the latest Jetpack update, slideshow thumbnails broke across my client’s website. Pop-up / slideshow functionality is there but thumbnails are tiny.

Standard gallery thumbnails are not broken, only slideshow thumbnails.

I’ve tried to re-activate Jetpack and re-connect Jetpack. No luck.

Initially, Cloudflare seemed to be the possible reason for this happening but that doesn’t seem to be the case after all. I’ve tried clearing Cloudflare cache, adding Cloudflare page rule according to official Jetpack instructions, pausing Cloudflare, disabling Cloudflare script minify. Combine it all together… Nothing works.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks!

    Hi @soulstudio,

It looks like you’re not properly connected to Jetpack right now, so that’s the first thing we’ll need to solve. Here’s how to get reconnected:

    https://jetpack.com/support/reconnecting-reinstalling-jetpack

Once you’re properly connected, you’ll see Everything looks great! here.

Let us know when you’ve done that, and if you’re still having trouble with images, we can get a fresh sync of your site to our servers and see if that sorts it.

    Cheers.

    Hi Jen,

I’ve deleted the plugin, reinstalled it and reconnected. The issue is still there.

However, I keep getting random connectivity error messages in Jetpack dashboard (not always though): “Jetpack Dashboard was unable to properly communicate with your website. Please check your website’s error logs to see what’s wrong.”

But Jetpack IS connected. Both account and site connections are listed in the dashboard.

I’ve installed “Health Check & Troubleshooting” plugin. Jetpack diagnostics information says “Connection Tests: All Pass”.

I’ve tried to deactivate ALL of the plugins (except Jetpack) and switch to the default WP theme, connectivity issues are still there.

It must be on the host side. But how to determine what exactly is the issue?

Can you try to sync the images on your end?

I tried looking at the page you mentioned. From glancing at the HTML source of this page, it does not look like a slideshow. Instead, you’re selecting it as a normal gallery.

Here is what I am seeing https://d.pr/i/DtNe36

Can you please double check this post in either Classic or Block Editors? Make sure that you’re adding these galleries as slideshow. We have a few guides:

    – For Classic Editor: https://jetpack.com/support/tiled-galleries/
    – For Block Editor: https://jetpack.com/support/jetpack-blocks/slideshow-block/

This is what is shown in classic editor (text tab) for all the slideshows on the website, which are now broken.

    <p>[gallery type="slideshow" ids="17433,17434,17435"]</p>

But when I go to classic / visual I can see that the slideshow option is gone from the “type” dropdown?

    Hi there,

Thanks for clarifying that! I notice that Shortcode Embeds are not enabled for your site. This may be the reason why those Slideshow shortcodes are not rendering and the Slideshow option not showing from the dropdown.

To enable this, please visit the following page and enable Shortcode Embeds:

Do let us know what you find here.

Thank you! That solved the problem!

I don’t know why that module was deactivated after the update to Jetpack 9.2.0 in the first place but I just updated Jetpack to 9.2.1 (with Cloudflare active) and everything works.

    Thank you once again!
