    I can select the “stretch to fit” option, but then the image quality is lost. Which doesn’t make sense, since the images are sized at 900×400…

    Have you changed the images you’re putting into the slides? I only see images that are almost square and displayed as two slides per view.

    Yes, I did change them. I got impatient… looks like the max image size is 700px wide for some reason. Image quality is still low, however.
    For example: http://www.laurakarolinephotography.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/11/IMG_7352_01.png the upload of this image is significantly sharper than when it shows up in the slideshow.

    i am using slideshows as well but i can not change smaller then my header
    anyone help i am new in word press

    That’s strange, the slideshow should always fetch the biggest version of the image around. I’ll see if I can find out why the image quality would be worsened.

    By default, the width of the slideshow is set to be the same width as the page it’s on. You can set the width of a slideshow to an exact width by going into the admin, click on ‘Slideshows’ and then select the slideshow of which you want to alter the settings. There you’ll find a slideshow’s current settings, where you can define the ‘Width of the slideshow’ as many pixels as you want it to be in width.
