    After I upgraded to WP 5.5, and also updated all plugins including NextGen–my existing slideshow stopped working and only displays a long column of the images.
    This occurs even when all other plug ins are deactivated so it is not a plug in conflict.

    Hi–For anyone else who is having a similar problem, here is my fix.

    I fixed it by changing my theme from Modest (an older theme from Elegant themes) to Divi, also by them. As soon as I switched the themes, the nextgen slider and portfolio started working correctly again.

    So I assume that even though Elegant themes provides updates to older themes, they are not fully compatible with all plug ins now.

    Before I did the theme switch–I did do the troubleshooting step of deactivating all my plug ins first except NextGen to see if it worked correctly–it did not which pointed the way then to a theme problem. Doing this will save you a lot of time to get to the correct problem.

    Hello,

    There is an other fix :

    install this Plugin : Enable jQuery Migrate Helper

    The problem is with jquery old script :

    wp-content/plugins/wp-simple-galleries/colorbox/jquery.colorbox-min.js: jQuery.fn.live() is deprecated

    With the plugin WP 5.5 is ok but not for long time….
