 * I am not sure if you got this resolved, but in order for the slideshow to work
   you need to set a Static page using Appearance > Customize > Static Front page
   and Set it to Your Latest posts. In order for the slider to show images you need
   to use the The featured Image portion of the posts edit page to have them load.
