Slider on home page only

Hello,

I would like my slider to appear on front page only. Apparently it is appearing on all the pages of my website. I think because the code for the slider has been put on header.php. I have created header-main.php without the slider code for inclusion on other pages but kinda get stuck. My theme pages does not give me an option to add custom page templates. Using twentysixteen.
