There is a widget area (Posts 1) available at the top of posts, where you could place widgets as you like. However, this widget area usually is used for ads only because the widget will be displayed on all your posts.
That means if you want to display a slider widget there, you would need to use a logic to display the widget only on the preferred posts (there probably are plugins for this). However, this may be quite cumbersome.
As an alternative you could try to find a plugin that allows you to add a slider with a shortcode. That way, you could add the slider right within the content editor as you like.
But keep in mind that sliders can slow down your site and they may not always make sense. We recommend that you use it only if you think that this will have major advantages for your site. Here you can learn more: Why website sliders aren’t as great as most people think.
