Slider caption disappeared (2 posts)

I was working on my site on Sunday and added in a sticky post to the slider rotation. It is an older post that was on the slider earlier this year, which I made unsticky a few months ago. After I made the post sticky, I looked at the slider and noticed that the caption/post title for the slider is completely gone.

I've tried disabling plugins, making all posts unsticky and then adding them back, playing with the custom css feature, and checking the coding, and none of these have seemed to make any difference at all. I also disabled my caching plugins, but again, I couldn't find why the slider titles disappeared.

The website is http://www.cslewis.org . Note that I also have http://www.cslewiscollege.org with the same setup, but it has the slider title intact.

Below is my custom css (but when I removed it, I saw no change to the titles), in case it helps:

I hope someone can help me with this, because I can't find the cause of the problem after quite a few hours of trying on my own to figure it out. Thank you in advance!

[excessive code removed - it's all visible on your site anyway]

Update which may help - the problem is only occurring when the home page is set to a static page. When I changed the home page under "Reading" settings to "your latest posts," the problem was fixed and the slider post title/caption reappeared above the slider.

Unfortunately, I need the home page to be a static page as it is a website setup rather than a blog setup.

Perhaps this will help narrow down the problem, though? It did work on my static homepage without issue since last February, and the text appears on my other site with a static homepage using Pinboard.

Thank you again in advance if you can help!
