Support » Theme: PostMagazine » Slider Broke

  • All of a sudden the slider broke, I do not know what happened, I didn’t update the theme at all or edit the code for a couple months, and the code was working fine before. It just stopped rotating this morning.

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

hmmm….. something is still breaking your site and if all your plugins are disabled, did you use any shortcodes or add any scripts or anything to pages? I see something for mailchimp in your source code on the front page.

Just to confirm, did you make any changes to the theme files?

One other possibility to test things is to use a default WordPress theme like Twenty Seventeen, or sixteen and see what happens.

Perhaps delete the PostMagazine theme and reinstall it?

Another question… did you add any HTML code to a widget? You would be surprised what a single opening or closing quote or tag can do to a site if missing.

I don’t believe I touched any of the theme files in a negative way. Remeber earlier when you helped me add two more promo boxes and I had to edit the css and html to fit it correctly? That and editing the slider is the only things I edited in the theme files. I don’t want to uninstall the theme because the editing I did for the promo boxes and slider was extensive, I do not want that to just disappear.

    Understandable.
Basically the only other thing I can suggest, is to try and remember everything you might have done, even if it was just adding some content to a page, but to go back to when everything was working.

Sometimes even a simple thing that we do that we didn’t know we did can cause major problems. From what I am seeing though, something has seriously caused a lot of breakage. When I look at your site’s front page and the source code, the bottom half of the code is missing, such as the closing body and html tags. The last container I see is:

    <div id="bottom1"

That doesn’t even have a closing bracket and everything after that is missing.

What version is the theme you are using? Just to make sure, I’m going to create a test install of WordPress and install the theme to see if there’s anything broken.

What is this sign up form popup that I see code for in your page content? Can you take that out?

What happens if you go to an inner page of your site? Open a page in your editor and use the permalink showing there and see what happens.

I have no idea what happened but the whole theme functions sheet was broken, so I downloaded the website code and added it back to the wordpress editor and that fixed it. I tried to do the same for the slider but it did not work.

Strange…but I just now went to your site and see the slider you installed working.
I’m guessing things are OK now?
