SKU not saving

Hi and thanks. I don’t want to delete any products, just make them as variations (different sizes). But as said – the SKU for the variants don’t change when I try to insert the right SKU. Are you sure nothing is deleted from Woo?

Can you please share with us the step-by-step procedure you did in converting your simple products to variable products for us to check if there are any pain points along the way?

Image 3 is where you created/added the attributes. Then, comes Image 4 where variations were already created with the same SKU number of 01-001.

Can you please share how did you created variations on your site after Image 3? This procedure was not added on your steps.

I tried to replicate the scenario on my end, after creating attributes, I am now creating variations where the only options are: Add variation and Create variations from all attributes . Regardless of what I choose, the SKU field is empty as you can see below:

On your case in Images 4 and 5, the SKU fields are already filled up with the same value.

Once we have more information about how variations were created after Image 3, we’ll be able to check this further.

I found an advise on internet about activating Manage stock for each produkt, but that don’t work either.

In the product list the SKUs are right. These are the ones that should be able to insert under Variables for the product. See my attached images.

This is quite odd and this is not the default behavior when creating variations from all attributes.

For us to investigate this further, can you please try to switch to the default Storefront theme and only WooCommerce plugin is enabled, create a new variable product and see if the SKU field is empty?

If so, then this kind of problem is usually caused by your theme or a third-party plugin present on your site. We can run a conflict test to verify this. I’d recommend cloning your site to a staging environment and performing the tests described on this guide without modifying your live site or impacting customers. Many hosts provide staging facilities, so it’s worth checking in with them. It’s also possible to do it using the free WP Staging plugin.

If this was caused by a third-party plugin present on your site, it would be best to reach out to the developers for further assistance here.

If this did not resolve the issue, please share your System Status Report, that will help us further troubleshoot.

You can find it via WooCommerce > Status. Select Get system report and then Copy for support. Once you’ve done that, you can paste it into your reply here.

I also tried to delete a product, erasing it from garbage bin, and then installing the product again. But the problem remains. It was not even possible to give the new product a SKU.
