 * I cannot get the Google Map to display using the SiteOrigin Google Maps Widget.
I obtained a Google Maps Javascripts API for a Browser type but always get this
message in the browser window when entering the Map address from the Map icon:“
The Google Maps API server rejected your request. This API project is not authorized
to use this API. Please ensure that this API is activated in the APIs Console:
Please ensure this API is activated in the Google Developers Console: [https://console.developers.google.com/apis/api/static_maps_backend?project=_&#8221](https://console.developers.google.com/apis/api/static_maps_backend?project=_&#8221);.
I have tried several new API keys but always get the same message.
    Thanks for
any advice on this issue. Larry Bresina

 * Hi labres,
 * Alex from SiteOrigin here. 🙂
 * That error basically means that the domain that the API key is being used on
hasn’t been authorised to use it. Please refer to this help doc (https://developers.
   google.com/maps/documentation/javascript/get-api-key#registering-authorized-urls)
for more information and steps to authorise your domain to use the API key.

 * Alex, I visited the help doc link on registering authorized urls. That reference
seems to be for Authentication for Google Maps APIs Premium Plan customers and
is for Client IDs, not API keys. So do have to be on the Premium Plan to use
the SiteOrigin Google Maps Widget? Shouldn’t I be able to use the Standard API?
The key I have through the Standard API allows designating http referrers (web
   sites), but that is optional.
Any further help would be much appreciated. Larry

 * Hi Labres,
 * Oh sorry. My mistake – I posted that reply in the wrong thread. Very sorry about
that! To clarify, you do not need a paid Google Maps API key to use our widget.
 * Based on your error message it sounds like there’s been a setting adjustment
that prevents the project you’re using to use the Google Maps API – I cannot
tell you what setting as I’m unsure of your settings. I would recommend either
checking over your project settings or (what I would recommend, ) creating a
   new project.

 * I have created a new project several times, but google map still doesn’t display.
The map icon that results delivers the same message as in the original post above.
The Chrome Developer Tools Console shows “Google Maps API warning: NoApiKeys
   [https://developers.google.com/maps/documentation/javascript/error-messages#no-api-keys&#8221](https://developers.google.com/maps/documentation/javascript/error-messages#no-api-keys&#8221);.
But “console.developers.google.com” shows the API Key to be valid.
 * I activated WP Google Maps plugin to compare results and it works fine when using
the same API Key as for the SiteOrigin Google Maps Widget, displaying a Google
Map. I would not expect to have to do something special with the SiteOrigin Google
Maps Widget if another Google Maps plugin works using the same API Key.
 * So any further help with the SiteOrigin Google Maps Widget would be much appreciated.
