 * Can I also ask, when submitting the XML sitemap to google, do we only submit 
   the one main sitemap? Eg /sitemap_index.xml or do we also submit all of the sitemaps
   that are in the /sitemap_index.xml link?

 * Yes, you only need to submit your sitemap index (sitemap_index.xml) as Google
   will automatically parse the individual sitemaps. You may follow the steps here:
