Support » Plugin: All In One WP Security & Firewall » Sitemaps error

  • Hello,

I am experience sitemaps problems in google search console.

The sitemap exists but google says it is empty. I had this once, but after removing AIOWPS I had no problems. Try some other plugins but really like AIOWPS. But after reinstal AIOWPS I started to activate each feature, one by one and tried to see what could have been wrong with sitemaps.

The result was that no problems was found. But today I looked at searchmaps and found the error again in all my sites.

I started to read and wonder if I change the IP retrieval settings to https_x_forwarded would solve the problem, as someone suggested.

What do you think about this?

    Best regards,
    Ricardo Pons

  • Just a bit more information:

    – I’ve disabled block fake googlebots;
    – I’ve tested http_x_forward and nothing changed.

Hi, have you tested all the server variables options under Advanced Settings located at WP Security -> Settings -> Advanced Settings?

    Regards

    Hello,

Did that test right now and nothing changed.

It is really a strange thing. If it helps you can see this sitemap: https://acasadofado.pt/sitemap_index.xml. It has a page because it is a one page site, but google says that doesn’t have any URLs. It happens the same for other sites on my network.

    Thanks for replying.

    Regards,
    Ricardo

I wanted to say wordpress multisite installation and not network.

Is your site a multisite installation? If it is, how did you install the plugin?

I downloaded through wordpress dashboard, done a network activation, setup on primary site most of the things and finally some things on each site.

    Hi Ricardo,
Have you tested if maybe one of the firewall rules is affecting this?
If not can you please try that and let me know what you find and which rule is responsible if any?

    Hello!

Yes, I’ve disabled all firewall rules, then all security rules and only after deactivating the plugin everything went ok.

    Check this video please: https://screencast-o-matic.com/watch/cFjb13qosi

    Thanks for your reply,

When google webmaster tools is showing a result of empty site map, what happens when you visit your site map page directly with a browser?

That’s a strange thing because the sitemap is presented perfectly, with URLs!

    Hi Ricardo,
I am very determined to solve this because I haven’t been able to reproduce it on any of my servers.
If you would like, please get in touch with me using my contact form (see my profile) and I can give you some extra debug code we can run so we can get more information during the time this happens on your site. (since you are able to reproduce this consistently it might prove to be really useful in solving this behaviour)

ps: the feature most probably causing this for you is the “Block Fake Googlebots”.
There is a small bug where it doesn’t get turned off when you click the “Disable All Firewall Rules” or “Disable All Security Features” buttons. (I will fix this for the next release).
But I want to know WHY google bot feature is not working correctly on some sites such as yours.

    Sure, thanks!

Your contact form doesn’t allow me to send because after clicking send it shows processing arrows until it says that captcha has expired…

    Please try again.

    Hi!

Just wanted to add to this that I’ve just had a website with the same problem. I disable block all fake Googlebots and Google can read the sitemap properly now.

It looks like you know about the issue @wpsolutions so that’s good.

    Cheers
    Steven
