sitemap-taxonomy-category.xml link shows wrong Last Modified date

    Today we discovered that in sitemap.xml the Last Modified date is not correct for the sitemap-taxonomy-category.xml link. It does not show when the taxonomy was last modified.

    I looked into the code the xmlsf_get_taxonomy_modified() gets the last published post and takes the post_date_gmt from that.

    In my opinion this is not correct. Shouldn’t this show when a Taxonomy was last changed?

    Any advice or clarification would be highly appreciated!

    Hi, a taxonomy term archive pages will change when a new post is published with that term. The post will become visible on that archive page, hence the update to the last modified date for that archive page in the sitemap.

    An update to that date after modification of the term description has not been implemented yet. This is planned for a future release…
