Sitemap still pending in Google (13 posts)

    Hi
I am using sitemap_index.xml from Yoast as my sitemap and have submitted it to Google. This was over a week ago and its still showing as pending. Should I submit the contained sitemaps individually? (There's 5)
I read that it was sufficient enough to just submit the index one but nothing seems to be happening.
    Thanks in advance

I too am having the problem of pending sitemap_index.xml. I resubmit and then it's ok again some time later. But whenever I make a change on the site I get the pending state on webmaster.

Oddly, all the individual sitemaps within the index are showing as ok. And the pages have indeed been indexed. Please can you advise if this will be fixed in a future version as it seems this is quite a common problem with this plugin which is otherwise close to perfect.

I'm no expert, but make sure that the URL that you submitted to google web master tools is the exact same on your site - general - settings. What I mean here is - are you using www or non www domain name. You can submit the two versions to webmaster tools but submit only one sitemap to the correct domain. Also you must set up your preferred domain (www or non-www) to webmaster tools.

That was the cause of my problem anyway.... Hope that helps..

Mine seems to have sorted itself out, well for now anyway. It's showing as being successful, so will keep an eye on it to see what happens. :)

    @zanchit
    Hi

Are you by chance using wp-super cache plugin? I'm having the same issue but I noticed the sitemaps "ONLY" goes into pending status after I make changes to my website and delete the cache files using my wp-super cache plugin. I trust that wp-super cache is the culprit of my issue,

Have you managed fixed your issue? My sitemap is currently indexed but I'm sure that will change to pending once I delete any cache files.
Can you confirm what cache plugin you're using?

    Thanks
    Roger

No. Am using W3 Total-Cache. Think you are probably right in how it goes into pending after making changes but it has been behaving better recently. Funnily enough my backup site map is pending at the moment....

Seems to be a widespread problem, maybe somebody with will join in and provide some valuable advice as to how to go about fixing this issue for good, I hate not knowing if my sitemap is getting indexed from one day to the next...

I'll continue reading and update this thread if I come across some useful information.
    Good luck

I'm getting either a white screen or a page not found. It's random. Either way the XML site map on Yoast SEO is unusable.

I switched it off and I'm using Google Sitemap until it gets fixed.

I don't use any cache software so it can't be that.

it is not only with yoast but with all sitemaps, no matter what sitemap plugin. I have on some sites all in one seo and it has the same pending status as well

    Hello,

Have you also noticed these errors that Google detects and notices in Google Webmasters Tools? -> http://i.imgur.com/o815Zs9.jpg

This has been an ongoing issue for us. Constantly pending... I am using WP-Rocket caching plugin and have excluded the sitemaps from caching. Also my sitemaps have 0 errors.
