    Hi Yoast!

I’m wondering if do I need to register my new WordPress site under a different directory (/shop) of my root domain (kindtechgroup.net) on Google Search Console, or can I just submit a new sitemap for it to be indexed by Google. Please enlighten me.

    Sites:
    1. kindtechgroup.net (Main)
    2. kindtechgroup.net/shop (Second)

    Thanks and Best regards,

Yoast SEO can only create XML Sitemaps for the WordPress installation which is part of. If you build a new website on /shop/, then you can install Yoast SEO on it and the address for the XML Sitemaps (of the /shop/ website only) will be /shop/sitemap_index.xml.

You can submit that address to Google Search Console too.

Thanks! So should I assume that this website is no different from a subdomain installation?

In regards to your response, I’m sorry but let me clarify it. What you mean by then is I do not need to submit my new /shop site on google search console, right? I just have to submit the sitemap through my main site that is currently registered or submitted on google search console which is kindtechgroup.net.

Please correct me if I’m wrong. Thanks!

@its7376 If the /shop area of your site is a different WordPress installation than the main domain, you would want to submit a sitemap for both kindtechgroup.net/sitemap_index.xml and kindtechgroup.net/shop/sitemap_index.xml
