Could you please try going to Settings > General > Permalinks and then press Save Changes? After that try generating the sitemapindex again.

Hi OddOneOut, thanks for the reply.

Have tried that but still no luck.

How do you actually force it to generate the sitemap anyway? Should it be enough to simply visit http://www.mysite.com/sitemapindex.xml or is there a button somewhere in the settings to do it?

    Thanks.

    Hi again,

We’ve narrowed the problem down to a conflict with another plugin that we use called Custom Permalinks. Disabling that plugin and the sitemaps are generated fine.

Just wondering if you have come across this before? Any idea how difficult it would be to fix?

    Thanks.

Ok, we’ve figured out the issue here.

It seems Custom Permalinks had got confused by an old sitemap page (although not entirely sure why as it was on a different url). We tracked it down through the Category_name that was inside the wpquery and once the page was deleted the sitemaps are generated fine.

Hope that helps if someone else comes across this issue.

    Cheers.

Hi there, glad you got it working!

I’d be appreciated if you could share what you have found on http://betterwp.net/community/ so that others can benefit from it.

    Thank you,

    sblake.fu,

I don’t understand your fix. I have Custom Permalinks and am having trouble getting this sitemap plugin to work. What exactly did you do? What file did you have to delete?
