    Hi,
My sitemaps reporting page in Google Search Console has been showing errors since about a week ago. All but one of them is now showing errors out of 8 sitemaps. This has never happened in such high numbers before. In the past, all I did when a sitemap showed an error, was resubmit it. Now it still shows ‘1 error’after I resubmit. When I click on the link for each sitemap, the following message is displayed: “Sitemap can be read, but has errors”. It is the same message everywhere. I can only think that this issue is related to your plugin. Could there be a bug in Yoast Seo that is causing this issue in Google Search Console?
    Thanks.

Typically underneath the “Sitemap can be read, but has errors” message, you will see a list of the errors. Can you provide a link to the sitemap that reports this issue along with the errors that are listed for the sitemap?

Hi, thanks for getting back to me. The problem is that you would expect a list of the errors as you mentioned, but there is none. Instead this is what you get when you expand for more details: “Empty Sitemap
Your Sitemap does not contain any URLs. Please validate and resubmit your Sitemap”.

In the past, all I had to do to remedy the issue was to resubmit the sitemap. This option no longer works and even though it says “sitemap submitted successfully” after you resubmit, the error message still persist. Below are links to two of the sitemaps with errors. For both of them it says: ‘1 error’

“Your Sitemap does not contain any URLs” typically happens when there is no content for the sitemap. Both the post and page sitemaps have links listed so the error doesn’t make sense. It’s possible that Google attempted to crawl the sitemap during a time when your site was not available (during updates, server down time, etc).

If resubmitting the sitemap doesn’t work, please contact Google for further assistance here: https://support.google.com/.

“It’s possible that Google attempted to crawl the sitemap during a time when your site was not available”. That is what I have been thinking too, because nothing else makes sense. Thanks very much for your assistance.
