 * Hi Arnee,
 * I have **Google-sitemap-generator version 4.04** installed.
    For some time my
   security plug-in has advised me that the sitemap-builder.php file has changed,
   although there has been no version change. The first line of the changes explains
   the issue:
 * `$Id: sitemap-builder.php 898167 2014-04-19 15:46:23Z arnee $`
    is now: `$Id:
   sitemap-builder.php 906887 2014-05-02 14:03:25Z arnee $`
 * The first is the file that I have downloaded and the second is apparently the
   latest in the repository. There are dozens of lines and perhaps hundreds of changes
   in the second file.
 * I understand if someone makes small corrections or clarifications, which does
   not affect the code without a version change, but should this not be a new version?
 * I had expected a new version to be issued and was waiting rather than reinstalling.
   Should I be using the new version. If so, to get it, I presume I must uninstall
   and reinstall the plug-in?

 * Arne,
 * Now that I have had time to check everything, I find that no indexing is being
   done on my sites. Also reading several other posts, I see many others have similar
   problems. Everything was working fine before I updated to the version 4.x. At
   least I know now, why visits to my sites declined.
 * Do I go back to the old version, try the development version or just create my
   own sitemap file until you get things sorted? Since my pages have only occasional
   changes, perhaps the latter is the quickest and safest way to fix the problem

 * Being the weekend with a little more time, I tried the new version 4.0.5-beta2.
   It does not work for my sites either. Btw, I noticed that the sitemap-builder.
   php file had the same line mentioned above:
    `$Id: sitemap-builder.php 906887
   2014-05-02 14:03:25Z arnee $` at the top, so now I know where it came from.
 * I downloaded and installed the old version 3.4.1 and everything works as before.
   It was reassuring to get meaningful sitemap.xml files. Now all I will need to
   stop the plug-in update message, but that is the easy part.
