• After recent update of WordPress SEO to version 1.5.3.2, I have been getting a 500 internal server error for the XML sitemap.

Everything else on the site including the WordPress SEO plugin seems to be working fine, except for the 500 error for the XML sitemap.

I tried many things including deleting the WordPress SEO plugin and re-installing, but the problem persists.

I have not tried things such as altering the .htacess file, mostly because I don’t want to really screw something up.

Is there any way to ‘clean’ or fix this 500 error so the sitemap will work correctly again?

  • I have same problem with post-sitemap, all other sitemaps work ok.
Fatal error: Allowed memory size../plugins/wordpress-seo/inc/class-sitemaps.php on line 713
I tried the htaccess and wpseo-functions edits but no luck.
I deactivated every plugin, still no luck.
I deleted wpseo and reinstalled but still same problem and now on the wpseo dashboard and sitemaps page I get this error:
Warning: call_user_func_array() expects parameter 1 to be a valid callback, function ‘wpseo_xml_sitemaps_init’ not found or invalid function name in /home/justplay/public_html/wp/wp-includes/plugin.php on line 470

I have two sites running the same theme, plugins etc and one works ok one has this errors, wierd.

Looks like we are wasting our time trying to get support in this forum.
The only support is for premium members from yoast site.

    mcfester,
I was not surprised or expecting any premium support… I just thought there was a chance someone had a similar issue and potential fix.

In the mean time, I just disabled the sitemap in the WordPress SEO plugin and started using Google XML Sitemaps plugin. This plugin seems to be working fine, even though I would rather have the sitemap function in Yoast’s plugin work properly… One less plugin.

Go to the yoast XML sitemap on your dashboard. Change the Max Entries per sitemap from 1000 to 100. Worked like a charm for me. 🙂
