    What works

    What not

    The last one gives the 500 error

    Might not help but try
    a) resave permalinks;
    if does not help,
    b) try turning plugin off, then back on

    @jeroen1972 We checked on your sitemap and whereas we weren’t able to replicate a 500 error it appears your caching plugin is inserting some additional code into the page which is causing it to render incorrectly:

    <!-- This page is cached by the Hummingbird Performance plugin v1.9.2 - --><?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?><?xml-stylesheet type="text/xsl" href="//"?>

    Can you please try disabling caching for the sitemap and check whether that resolves the issue? We have more information on this here:

    Thanks for understanding!

    I’m having exactly the same problem

    I am seeing the same issue on a client site this morning and am investigating it.

    It seems to be happening with the Twenty Eleven theme.
    Switching to another theme solves the problem

    I resolved my issue by increasing the amount of ram php was able to consume, the sitemap was larger than the allowed request size.
