• Hello all,

My site has now been down for 4 weeks due to this same issue and i am at a total loss of what to do.

    I use the following:

    Theme: Salient
    Visual Composer
    Cloudflare
    (and various other plugins)

Everything has been functioning perfectly, i finished building the site and thought: “Great, now lets add a SSL and we are good to go”.
So i ordered an SSL from my hosting provider, they added it and BOOM! Site broken. Elements broken/not functioning. Everything a complete mess.
So i speak to support at my hosting provider, they suggest numerous solutions: Changing the URLs, directories, change element urls from http to https, delete this plugin, enable this and that and we get absolutely nowhere!
I am using the WordPress Https plugin to add some control to the situation (selecting which posts should be secure, forcing HTTPS in admin, etc).
I am also using cloudflare for their site attack protection (the industry we operate in is prone to various site attacks).
We have ran search and replace script changing all from http to https.

The site attempts to load fully however when it has completed its loading the site just goes blank or only a few elements display (logo, header menu).
When the SSL is deactivated from the server the site works perfectly!

This issue has now cost me: 2 hosting providers, a month of downtime, upgrade in cloudflare and two SSL issuers. Yet we get nowhere.

I am at wits end with this, anyone have any ideas? What do i need to do to get my site rendering/displaying correctly over https?

Ps. This is not about making the padlock “green”. I am not even bothered if there is the grey & yellow triangle padlock, i just want it to work and render correctly.

Also, i have the “wordpress url” in general settings set to: http and “Site Url” set to: https. If i change them both to https then wordpress keeps signing me out every 5-10 minutes automatically. Keeping the two seperate seems to be the only way to keep it happy!

    Any ideas?
    All help is much appreciated!

Would you please give us a link to the site in question?

(Personally, you don’t need to force HTTPS on your site. If you leave it HTTP, visitors who want to force HTTPS can do it in their own browser’s settings. I suspect you have have some elements not loading over HTTPS, causing the problem, but when a browser forces HTTPS, all elements are loaded over HTTPS. In short, and this is way longer than I intended, it’s better in the long run to stay HTTP and let the visitors force HTTPS, unless there’s a specific page where information must be encrypted (like a checkout page, and now a parenthetical *inside* a parenthetical).)
